Static homes may be short on space, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be brightened by a bit of luxury here and there.
If you own a static caravan, or are on the hunt for one, you’ll know that the majority of them are old-fashioned in design and can feel a little outdated.
But who says you can’t bring them up to date with a few improvements?
From clever lighting designs to simple optimization tricks and multi-purpose furniture, here are a few ways to make your static home look every inch as glamorous as any other home.
1. Optimize space

In a static home, space is like gold dust, so make sure you get enough of it by creating clever shelving solutions. Look out for shelving units that can also double as a desk or a fold-down table.
Then turn your attention to the sofa and see if you can find in-built sofa accessories that can store remote controls, books, magazines and even a surface where you can put hot drinks.
As for stuff that lies around without an official home, purchase some vacuum storage bags. Perfect for bedding and bulky cushions, these can no easily fit under the bed or in a wardrobe.
2. Lighting

You’d be amazed how much lighting can change the look and feel of a room. It is especially handy in small spaces as you can use it to make the room feel bigger than it actually is.
Mirrors are your best friend here. Placed near light sources like lamps and windows, they will expand your room and amplify the natural lighting at the same time.
Have fun with pretty little additions too, like tea lights and fairy lights. They add a touch of warmth and charm, as well as bring out a more soothing, calm atmosphere to the space.
Best of all, they combat that industrial feel that is so common with static homes.
3. Innovative furniture

There are plenty of multi-purpose and storable furniture solutions out there. From fold-up beds to coffee tables that also work as storage, do your research when it comes to buying quality furniture.
The most important thing is that they don’t take up unnecessary space.
Other solutions include fitted sliding wardrobes that not only save space by not having swinging doors and are designed to fit perfectly in small spaces, but they also make a space look modern, elegant and uncluttered.
4. Upgrade the kitchen

Kitchens are probably the messiest rooms of the house, so give it an update by installing some integrated appliances that don’t take up extra space, invest in clever storage solutions for your kitchen utensils to minimize the clutter, and make it look homey with pieces of art, bursts of color and different textures.
With regards to surfaces, install a high quality countertop composed of an upmarket material, such as granite or quartz.
Also, if you have the space, consider installing a kitchen island, which can not only provide an additional workspace and seating area, but also give your static home a new sense of functionality, offering both a convenient and communal space for you and any family or guests you may have.
5. Install a fireplace

With most static homes comprised of relatively thin metal, installing a brand new fireplace can help create a lovely warm and cosy living space.
While you could opt for a standard gas or electric unit, why not add a touch of luxury to your living room by installing a wood-burning stove.
While this option might require more forward thinking and planning, not to mention some obvious structural rearrangement (such as where to run the flue pipe through the caravan’s roof), there is an aesthetic beauty to wood-burning stoves that is unparalleled, one that adds a sense of rustic charm, and which helps create a focal point to any room.
Energy efficient and fuelled by a renewable source, installing an effective wood-burning stove will also make your static home habitable in the colder months.
6. Upgrade the Bathroom

Nothing says luxury like a spa. Static home bathrooms can have a tendency to stay neglected and go outdated fairly quickly.
The solution? Transform it into a spa-like space in order to create a more relaxing and rejuvenating environment that can help you unwind.
While your options will obviously depend upon what kind of space you have, begin with selecting the appropriate color scheme; soothing shades of blue, green, and white are particularly popular.
Alternatively, if you plan to turn it into a steam room or sauna, opt for nice warm woods to generate a tranquil atmosphere.
And last but not least, when it comes to the bathtub itself, consider investing in a freestanding tub or even a whirlpool tub for a truly luxurious bathing experience.
