How to Deep Clean a House Fast: The Ultimate Guide

deep clean your hous

Since we spend most of our time at home nowadays, our houses should be neat, tidy, and clean at all times. Failing to keep your living space clean can result in an unhygienic environment and several health issues.

Deep cleaning and disinfecting your house is even more important if you live with kids, pets, or elderly family members. Follow this guide to learn how to deep clean your house and make it spotless in no time.

Declutter and Reorganize

The first step to begin deep cleaning your house is to get rid of unwanted stuff. Declutter as much as possible and throw away or donate the things that you rarely use.

By reducing stuff in your house, you will not only get more circulation space but also reduce the cleaning effort. Organize the things that are left and arrange them in a systematic manner.

Start by dusting the stuff left with you and keep the unused things locked. If needed, reorganize the furniture to achieve a bigger and clearer space. Take your time to declutter and reorganize as it will determine the look of your interior spaces in the end.

Invest in the Right Tools

You cannot deep clean your house without using the right tools. The chemicals, broom, vacuum cleaner, mop, and cloths you use can majorly impact the end results.

Use cleaning chemicals that are safe for children and pets to avoid health issues. In some cases, you may also need dish soap, a lint roller, baking soda, vinegar, wood polish, and mineral oil to truly deep clean your house.

Based on your requirements and interior space, collect all the things you need and formulate a plan. Determine the number of days you can dedicate to this deep cleaning routine and divide the interior zones accordingly.

Clean the Kitchen

Once you are ready with your tools and a plan, start by deep cleaning each room in your house. In most homes, the kitchen area is the dirtiest and calls for a deep clean to keep odor and microbes away.

Start by cleaning the oven, microwave, refrigerator, and other appliances. Wipe off any dirt or dust accumulated on the cabinets and move on to the stove. Scrub it properly and remove the grease, if any.

Do not forget to wipe off the top of the vent too. Use a disinfectant to clean the sink and countertops. Lastly, finish by vacuuming the floor and mopping it with a disinfectant.

Move on to the Bathroom

After the kitchen, the next big challenge is cleaning the bathroom. Soak the toilet, bidet, bathtub, and washbasin with a multi-purpose cleaner and scrub them using a sponge.

At the same time, scrub off the debris and dirt accumulated around the toilet base. Wipe the mirrors, light fixtures, taps, and doorknobs. Use white vinegar and baking soda to remove soap scum on shower panels and floor.

Clean and organize the drawers and cabinets. Wash the shower curtains and window drapes and finish cleaning the floor by using a disinfectant. A clean bathroom and toilet reduce the chances of developing health issues and keep the space hygienic.

Clean the Bedrooms and Common Area

Your bedroom and living space are the next areas that must be deep cleaned. Start by washing all kinds of fabrics in both spaces- sheets, sofa covers, cushion covers, drapes, curtains, and duvet covers.

Use baking soda to clean your mattress and vacuum it for a few minutes. Repeat it with your sofa and cushions. Next, clean the openings and panels using the right kind of cleaner.

Do not leave out the headboards and tabletops. Shift the sofa, bed, and other furniture to vacuum dust from every corner of both spaces. You can also use microfiber cloths and rubbing alcohol to get rid of nasty stains. Clean the carpet, rugs, and electronics too.

Mop the floor with a disinfectant.

Clean the Laundry Room

If you clean your laundry in a dedicated room or space, consider deep cleaning it too. Wipe the dust off your washing machine and organize the space. Throw away empty detergent boxes and bottles.

Declutter the cabinets and shelves. Use a safe disinfectant to sanitize the washing machine. The dryer vent and lint trap filter should also be thoroughly cleaned. Make sure that the floor is properly cleaned in the end.

If you do not have enough time to deep clean your house, you can seek help from experienced cleaners and get it professionally cleaned. You can also plan your weekends around this task to ensure a clean and hygienic environment.

Repeat the routine once every two weeks to keep your house spick and span.
