6 Creative Ways to Use Nightstands in Your Bedroom

Are you redecorating your master bedroom with a master bath?

If so, you should think about how your bedroom furniture and décor could be enhanced with the addition of a few key pieces.

Buying a matched set of bedroom furniture is fairly straightforward and mostly comes with one nightstand included, with additional nightstands available on an optional basis.

The nightstand is one of the least expensive parts of a matched bedroom furniture set, so it only makes sense to take advantage of their versatility for new applications throughout your master suite.

Here are some of the creative ways you can use nightstands while redesigning your master bath and master bedroom.

1. Why you should use affordable nightstands for your bedroom

There are a lot of reasons you should consider using additional nightstands in your bedroom rather than other pieces of furniture. You can get as many nightstands as you wish when you order your bedroom furniture set online.

As the least expensive furniture item in your bedroom, nightstands provide unique storage solutions and opportunities.

Although nightstands are a great option for a lot of different uses, affordable nightstands for your bedroom do have some limitations.

If you require shelving specifically and your bedroom set only offers nightstands with drawers, or vice versa, you might need to look at nightstands from similar furniture collections within the same brand.

If you want the largest selection of affordable nightstands for your bedroom, head over to online furniture stores. They will give you the most options, as well as pieces on clearance from similar furniture collections.

2. Reading and hobby corners

If you like to escape to your bedroom without the need to actually get in bed, reading or a hobby corner could be just the thing you need. Find a simple and slim-line accent chair and place it in the corner with a nightstand and lamp matched with the rest of your bedroom furniture.

Some of the hobbies you can easily do in such a corner include:

  • Crocheting
  • Sewing
  • Quilting
  • Knitting
  • Writing

Shelved nightstands can hold your current reading stack and study materials, while drawers will give you the ability to store necessities such as needles, thread, yarn, etc. A nightstand with both drawers and a shelf is ideal.

3. Charging station for household devices

If you are a larger household with multiple devices to be charged, creating a separate charging station can be highly beneficial.

Two adults with a work phone, personal phone, tablet, and laptop have a minimum of 8 devices to charge in one room in one night! Wouldn’t it be convenient to charge everything at once in an organized manner?

You can create a charging station easily with a nightstand, whether it has drawers or shelves. A nightstand with shelves can be organized into device compartments with some easy DIY organizational tools and projects.

A nightstand with drawers could be used to divide and conquer, with your devices in one drawer and your partner’s in the other.

Whether you use a nightstand with drawers or a nightstand with enclosed shelving you may need to drill a hole to allow a power cord through the back to plug into the outlet.

Many nightstands work for this purpose as is, so if you go into it with this in mind it shouldn’t be an issue.

4. Intimates storage

If all of your clothing hangs in your closet and you only need a place to store underthings and hosiery, a nightstand could be a much more effective, and much smaller, solution.

With only one or two drawers, the nightstand will be large enough to hold all of one person’s delicate clothing items. It will give you more open space in your bedroom for the things you want most.

If you want to add even more open space to your bedroom, place the nightstand inside your closet.

Most nightstands will fit underneath the clothing rod comfortably, which means you can store all of your clothing in the closet and have more space ins your bedroom for that hobby corner or a small home office.

5. Toiletry and towel storage

No storage in your master bath? Rather than remodeling to add a built-in cabinet, consider using nightstands from your bedroom furniture collection.

Additional nightstands are very inexpensive, so adding an extra one or two to your furniture order won’t break the bank.

You can put your toiletries and personal care items in the nightstand’s drawers, or you can use shelves to store towels. If you have a small corner to work with, place an over-the-toilet towel rack over the nightstand for the perfect storage solution.

And, as a bonus, you’ll be bringing some of that décor and ambiance from the bedroom into the adjoining bathroom.

6. Gaming or media center

If you always keep a television in your bedroom, watch a lot of movies, or play video games, you might consider a media center.

Some bedroom sets come with an optional media center, but if you have a smaller television and few peripherals you don’t need quite so much space. If your bed is also lower to the floor, a nightstand makes more sense as a media center.

You can place the television on top of the nightstand, with the shelf below available for the gaming console or DVD player. You can also use a nightstand with drawers to hold all of your video games or your latest to-watch DVD stack.

If you have a larger television that won’t work with the nightstand, you can opt for a cheaper tv stand with the matching nightstand beside (or under) the stand.

This gives you matched storage for your games and movies while also giving your television the stability it needs at the height at which you need it for easy viewing from your bed.
